MDNA History

1974 - 2013

We take this opportunity to recognise all our founding members who had a vision to form a netball association from a dairy farm and to all our members (past and present) who have continued with that passion to make Metro a strong, successful and well respected netball association in the sporting community.

From humble beginnings many have worked hard to ensure the facilities are first class for all our members, neighbours and international guests.  Our volunteers have developed lifelong friendships and a strong sense of camaraderie that will endure well into the future.

We believe in supporting each other and providing the very best opportunities for our players, coaches, umpires and officials, many of whom have gone on to higher achievements in our sport.

On behalf of Metropolitan Districts Netball Association and the 2013 Management Committee, I welcome all who have helped to celebrate our 40 years of netball and look forward to many more to come.

Christina Carswell
2013 President

2011 Floods

Around 3,000 Brisbane netball players are back on the courts thanks to a $200,000 donation from the RACQ Foundation.

Metropolitan Districts Netball Association received the funding to repair the extensive damage caused by the 2011 floods to its Coorparoo headquarters on Brisbane’s eastside.

Christina Carswell from Metropolitan Districts Netball Association said the donation was the major source of financial assistance to repair the damage.

“The support from the RACQ Foundation means so much to us. Our players now have a safe, new facility to train and play netball in all weather conditions,” Mrs Carswell said.
